About Cathy Vivian BSc (chiro), BA, MCNHC, MBTPA
I am a professionally trained and fully insured therapist, helping hundreds of people in pain over 24 years. I am fascinated by complementary, drugfree, noninvasive ways of achieving good health of which there are many. I am passionate about helping people realise that complementary and alternative health has a positive place within our society.
how I work
My Background
I have many years’ experience in healthcare through bodywork. I achieved a chiropractic degree in 1994 and went on to qualify in Bowen in 2001, NST in 2004, Emmett in 2010, and most recently in 2018 I trained in MSTR (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release). My most recent training is in Applied Myofascial Soft Tissue Therapy.
I have a wide knowledge of other complementary ways people may be helped to which I can refer. I continue to regularly review my skills and learning through continuing professional development (CPD)
My Methods
Looking at the whole body is important as everything is connected.
A first session will normally last for around one hour, during which I take a case history, ask about lifestyle and injuries, look at the whole body for imbalances, and perform the first treatment. Careful assessment through touch helps me find tensions and areas which are under stress. These are gently eased then everything is re-assessed.
People are often surprised and pleased at the positive results from something seemingly so simple. I am very experienced in ‘reading’ the body and am highly skilled in these techniques.

what to expect
Consultation & Treatment
I do treatments through light clothing with the client lying down or sitting in a chair. It is possible to treat people in wheelchairs, and small children and babies on the lap of their parent. I apply gentle pressure and small rolling, switching movements of tissue, or holding points at precise places on the body.
Many people feel extremely relaxed during treatment, and sometimes the client will go to sleep. However, sometimes only a short session is needed. The first session takes approximately one hour. Subsequent sessions are usually 45 minutes.
After Treatment
I always ask clients to make sure they drink plenty of water and to avoid overactivity.
It is usual to have 3 treatments initially, although sometimes a client may need several more treatments in the short term. Regular ‘balance’ sessions are an excellent way to help avoid pain and injury.
